Auto Cleaning System for Washers

An automatic high-pressure spray cleaning system mounted on the outside of the washer drum — continuously flushing the filter plate surface to prevent screen-hole blockage and keep drum drainage capacity.

Product Overview

The Auto Cleaning System for Washers mounts a high-pressure spray pipe spanning the full drum face on the outside of the washer drum. Driven by a motor, the pipe travels axially back and forth while fan nozzles continuously flush the drum filter plate (screen) surface, knocking attached fibres and contaminants off the face, preventing screen-hole blockage and keeping filter-plate permeability and drum drainage capacity.

The system starts and stops automatically, interlocked with washer operation, and cleans on cycle without stopping the machine or manual cleaning. Stainless-steel piping and frame stand up to the corrosive, humid washer environment — suitable for vacuum drum washers, twin-roll press washers, DD washers and other washer types.

Key Component

Electric-Driven Spray Beam

Electric-driven high-pressure spray beam

The electric drive unit mounted at the end of the spray beam moves the full-width high-pressure spray pipe axially back and forth, cleaning the washer drum filter plate (screen) across the entire face uniformly with no dead zones.

  • Electric drive unit — a motor with gear transmission drives the spray pipe across the full face; travel and speed are stable and controllable
  • Full-face cleaning — the spray pipe spans the drum face; one traverse cleans the whole width with no dead zones
  • IP66 protection — dust-tight and water-jet protected, built for the humid washer plant environment
  • DCS interlock — connected to the mill DCS; starts, stops and cycles interlocked with washer operation

Technical Highlights

System Features

Full-Face Spray Coverage

The spray pipe spans the full drum face and, with the travel mechanism, covers the entire surface uniformly — no cleaning dead zones.

Motor-Driven Travel

The pipe travels axially and automatically; cleaning trajectory is uniform and controllable, nozzle layout customizable to face width.

High-Pressure Anti-Fouling

High-pressure water flushes fibres and contaminants out of the filter-plate holes, keeping plate permeability, vat pressure and drainage efficiency stable.

On-Line Automatic Cleaning

Interlocked with washer operation, cleaning on cycle — no machine stops, no manual cleaning, less labour.

Stainless, Corrosion-Resistant

Stainless piping and frame resist corrosion and humidity in the washing plant environment.

Fits Many Washer Types

For drum cleaning of vacuum drum washers, twin-roll press washers, DD washers and other washer types.

Improvement Stories from Washer Lines

From on-line high-pressure cleaning to anti-rewetting retrofits — real projects at two large pulp mills.

CASE 01 · PULP · WASHERS

A Large Pulp Mill in China: On-Line High-Pressure Washing

In 2019 the mill raised washer feed pressure to increase capacity. High vat pressure led to frequent seal failures and leakage, while poor washing left high chemical carry-over in the discharged pulp. We proposed an on-line high-pressure washing system, proved it on one washer, then equipped the remaining washers — stable operation returned, pulp quality improved and the investment paid back quickly.

  • Single-machine trial → mill-wide
  • Vat pressure under control
  • Fast payback

CASE 03 · PULP · TWIN-ROLL WASHERS

Anti-Rewetting Devices on 15 Twin-Roll Washers

Higher speed after a capacity upgrade hurt dewatering: consistency sat at 23–28%, with high chemical use and residual alkali. Drum-mounted anti-rewetting devices lifted consistency above 30% on every unit, cut residual alkali by more than 30%, and helped the mill reach record annual output.

  • Consistency above 30%
  • Residual alkali ↓30%+
  • Record annual output
